Jane Iredale mineral make-up is considered by many plastic surgeons and dermatologists to be the safest, kindest cosmetic line on the market today. Thousands of consumers would agree with them, given the popularity of the Jane Iredale cosmetics products.

Go for it girls!

And the occasional fellow.

Please be aware that although the vast majority of Jane Iredale Cosmetic products are green-lighted by the EWG as safe as it gets for carinogenic-free make-up, or from any other dangerous ingredients, the EWG does not find the Jane Iredale powder sunscreen a safe bet. The EWG rates the Jane Iredale sunscreen a very dangerous, red-zone seven.

The problem is the titanium dioxide, and a particular combination of other other ingredients which, all things scientifically considered, are dangerous to our health.

Please take the time to check out the EWG site. Once again, EWG stands for the Environmental Working Group. They are our consumer watchdog. The EWG is funded by public donation. They are not in the hands of big pharma, or anyone else. Their unbiased scietific research is top-notch and world renowned. Please make use of their research and stay safe.

There are a few other Jane Iredale cosmetic products which are rated a caution-yellow. By far the vast majority of her products are green-lighted and loved by many. Look them up on the user-friendly EWG website http://www.ewg.org.

You can check them out at Jane Iredale’s website http://www.janeiredale.com.

Perhaps you could write her a little note with regards to the few products that she manufactures that do not come up to the safety standards set by the Environmental Working Group. Let her know that her consumers are a savvy lot and that she should do domething about the proverbial fly in the ointment. Jane Ireldale Cosmetic products advertising campaings ensure the consumers that all of her products are very safe for them. Her client-base is therefore more trusting and more likely not to do their due diligence and check out the research on each of her products before using them.

Not good and not smart.

But very trusting.

Drop Jane a line and let her know that the EWG has not given all of her products a clean bill of health.

Just most of them.

Which is a lot better than many cosmetic lines on the market today.

For a full and complete review of Jane Iredale’s cometics, and every other cosmetic company under the sun, please refer to the EWG’s Cosmetic Database.

Be careful and stay healthy!

Okay; when I looked up Baz Sunscreen I was probably the only person on the planet that didn’t know that it was a famous little Youtube number by Baz Luhrmann, entitled Everybody’s Free To Wear Sunscreen.

I thought that Baz Sunscreen was a brand name that I had not heard of that was good for everyone to know about, since 40,500 good souls had already googled the phrase. It wasn’t a brand that was on the EWG’s (the Environmental Working Group) list of test sunblocks and sunscreens, yet it was apparently very popular to those in the know.

But Baz is right, even if his glowing reference to the need to wear sunscreen is only a small part of his heartfelt video message.

Baz, meet Badger. Badger, meet Baz.

Badger Sunblock products are the only ones on the EWG’s safe sunscreen list that I can even find in an actual physical store, or on an online health store.

So Badger products it is.

Well.ca is your store online for Badger products at great prices.

HI! All you people into World of Warcraft might want to check out the amazing T-shirts at Fighter Warehouse. Death Skulls on every t-shirt in the Xzavier clothing line-up. Amazing artistry has gone into this clothing line developed around the ever-popular death skull theme.

Could someone please tell me what is the attraction?

I love t-shirts as a medium of self-expression. I am not personally in any way enamoured with the idea of death, or skulls. I am glad that I have a skull, but I do not want to see skulls.

That usually means that they are no longer doing their job.

Not good on all accounts.

I don’t see a skull on this Xzavier t-shirt!

However, that being said, the best place to find lots of skull-covered clothing in one place is Fighter Warehouse. And, if someone buys an Xzavier t-shirt at Fighter Warehouse, and tells their friends to go there also, then they get paid for the referral. Just do it online.

Fighter Warehouse’s affiliate program is the best on the internet. They will pay you 25 % if someone arrives at their site via your link and actually buys something within the next few months.

Try it, you will like it. And so will Fighter Warehouse. You can aslo call it Fighters Warehouse, although that is technically incorrrect. Your website will potentially get traffic from an additional 8,000 viewers that prefer that spelling.

Fighters Warehouse carries excellent pressure pants, pressure shorts, comfy and effective jock support, ball support, whatever you want to call it. Great support, under the evil name of Dirty Boxers.

That name is wrong on so many levels.

Okay, at least on two.

Fighters Warehouse carries high quality mouthguards and supplements. And anti-fungal powders and sprays.

A good scratch can lose the match.

Well.ca carries salve for all of your bruises and scrapes.

So tell all of your friends, children and grandchildren You need money for retirement. And a new pair of Dirty Boxers for comfy support. You don’t need to tell them that part, just the part about needing money for retirement. Force them to sell Fighter Warehouse products. Make sure that they set up their affiliate link under your affiliate link. Make sure that your affiliate link is under my website link, or I will have to kill you.

All my love,

Pat.

Or Queen. Whatever your preference for comparision. It’s an oil, people. Let’s not get too hung up on its gender analogy. It hasn’t really got one.

Kukui oil reigns supreme.

It rocks.

Try it.

You will love it.

Eczema and psoriasis, rosacea and sunburn have met their match.

I bought and used some in Hawaii and didn’t burn once. I was out in the sun all day, every day. I put the kukui oil on religiously every two hours or so. The oil is excellent. It keeps the skin smooth, supple and moisturized without being greasy. Great for the lips also. Prevents cracking, drying, and burning.

Protect your baby-boo.

Well.ca carries Alba Kukui OIl and will deliver it to your door. Add it to a liberal application of Badger Sunscreen every two hours. The EWG, the Environmental Working Group, says that Badger Sunscreen is one of the safest sunscreens on the market today. The EWG tested 258 sunscreens on the market today, including all the leading brands such as Banana Boat, Coppertone etc., and found that only 40 sunscreens did not carry carcinogens or false claims for sun protection, or actually had the correct amount of ingredients to properly and safely protect us from burning or contracting skin cancer.

Badger Sunscreen is the only sunscreen in the top forty safe sunscreens, that I could even find in the local health food super store. It is twenty dollars, Canadian, for a small tube, but our children are all worth it.

And so are we!

Well.ca carries Badger Sunscreen, so we are all in luck. We can all hide safely in our houses until the delivery van pulls up to our homes and unloads these skin-savers into our outstretched, glove-covered hands.

Actually, I just burn to death and then remember that I should have put some kukui oil and Badger sunscreen on.

Duh.

Perhaps the Sisters of Notre Dame would have been nicer if they had carried these pictures around back in the day.

When I was in Grade One, my school principal was Sister Xavier. I swear she was six feet tall and as wide as a swizzle stick. Sister Xavier looked stern and strict, but actually, she was the only nun in the teaching order, the Sisters of Notre Dame, that did not have a penchant for using the strap, or wrapping fingers with pointers, or traumatizing children for no reason at all.

Which is why it is too bad that she was the nun that I witnessed slip on the ice at the top of a very steep hill, and careen down the sidewalk to street below in a most undignified manner. The crossing guard broke her run, and prevented any chance of her sudden death under the wheels of a car.

Yes, I was the only witness to this little escapade. I knew what was good for me, so I kept this incident to myself for many years, until I was well away from the clutches of any of her comrades in Christ.

Somehow, these nuns would have turned my eyewitness account into a confession of guilt. I would have morphed from the innocent little child who witnessed this somewhat comical slide of a nun down the steep sidewalk, into an attempted murderer.

I saw the ice; why didn’t I call out to Sister Xavier and stop her from taking the next, fateful step? Because I wanted to see her lose control, wipe out, and take the crossing guard with her into the arms of God, they would say.

And they would say that. I kid you not.

That is why a most excellent post-secondary institute, St. Francis Xavier University, was never on my list of schools to attend.

By the way; apparently 18,100 people are trying to find someone named Xavier or Xzavier, by googling the non-word xaiver. We will therefore use it three times throughout this blog and magically add those searchers to our audience.

Welcome!

And what, if anything, does this have to do with Xzavier T-shirts?

Why, absolutely nothing, of course.

Xaiver.

Just that the name Xzavier brings up such warm and fuzzy childhood memories of endless years of quality “education” at the hands of female wackos dressed in black and white.

Xzavier T-shirts have amazing graphics of skeletons and swords and crosses and filigree. This is what those nuns should have been wearing. Far more representative of their true calling — tormenting children.

For some unfathomable reason, this is what the young men of today like to wear to clubs and bars. They say that the young women like these shirts immensely.

Why they would, I do not know.

But if you do, please check out Fighter Warehouse for their line of Xzavier T-shirts. That way, you can check out the ball support pressure shorts at the same time without having to admit that you need such support just to walk to the corner store, let alone kick-box.

Never admit to any age-related ailments.

Shop at Fighter Warehouse and stay in the athletic, young man loop.

Fake it til you make it, I always say.

And always will.

Xaiver.

Oh yes! Try their mouthguards if you have bruxism — teeth grinding, for whatever reason. Like a traumatic childhood memory full of nasty nuns.

Fighter Warehouse mouthguards look a lot cooler than namby pamby ones from the drug store. And they work just as well without making you look like a sissy.

Mouth drool should look cool.

This nun is happy because she “confiscated” a child’s skipping rope.

It’s okay; she’s dead now. She tripped and smashed her teeth because she wasn’t wearing a mouthguard from Fighter Warehouse.

Xaiver. Xzavier Clothing.

When I first read that the Canadian company Upaya Naturals provided online customers with raw food delights, I wondered what kind of idiot can’t just buy a raw carrot from the local food store and eat it. Even if you are a shut-in, local stores deliver, so where is the market for Upaya Naturals?

Silly me. Upaya Naturals provides online shoppers with hard to find, all natural, vegan cheeses and ice creams that actually taste good while providing lots of nutrients. They arrive on ice to your very doorstep, where you can be waiting, crackers in hand, or spoon in fist, in eager anticipation of the yummy, delectable treats that are being delivered to your home.

Cashew-based Ice Cream. It tastes like dairy ice cream, without the guilt.

If you find the wait too exciting, be sure to order aromatherapy essential oils that calm the nerves, and smell divine.

Get all of your favourite blender recipes at the ready also. Upaya Naturals carriesVitamix and Blendtec blenders, the cadillac of blenders/juicers on the market today. You can prepare bread mixtures, and soups, as well as smoothies and ice creams, without having to fiddle with numerous attachments. Push a button and you are off to the races.

The Vitamix Deluxe 5200 is touted as the best blender on the market, but the following videos offer conflicting evidence in this regard. You can also buy Vitamix at your friendly neighbourhood Costco store, if interested. You can save yourself the shipping fees that way, as they are presently on sale, and therefore cost the same as ordering from the company online. Ask for a demo before you buy.

The Vitamix Blendtec Kitchen Aid Challenge. You decide. The facts in these two videos conflict. Kitchen Aid is far less expensive and appears to do the trick.

The Vitamix Blendtec Challenge.

Why pay for Blendtec or for Vitamix if Kitchen Aid is just as efficient, if not moreso? And it’s half the price at $199.00 How do they all fare with breadmaking? We want more tests please, before we take a Vitamix home!

Upaya Naturals also carries Superfoods, Greens etc. that are vegan-friendly. Power up so that you will have th strength inyour arms to lift that spoonful of healthy cashew-based ice cream to your lips, over and over again. After all, you have many delectable flavours to try. You need muscle mass.

So please, do yourself a favour and check out Upaya Naturals’ website.

I can hardly wait to try the cashew-based ice creams. I have never tried them before, but everyone says that they are great. I know that there are some almond and soy-based ice creams that are out there these days that are absolutely delicious. I wonder if the cashew-based ice creams give them a run for their money?

And don’t forget to brush your teeth! Yep. Upaya Naturals carries healthy, flouride-free tooth cleansers also. And skincare products. And the kitchen sink. Okay, everything but.

Speaking of the kitchen sink. Upaya Naturals carries one of, if not the best, water filtration systems on the market today: Wellness Kitchen S-III Filtration. This countertop water filtration system can also be easily mounted under the sink with the purchase of an adapter kit. What is most wonderful about this Wellness filtration system is that trace mineral that we need for our health are added back to the water supply after filteration has occurred. If you are concerned about pharmaceuticals, heavy metals and fecal matter making it into your drinking and bathing water, this filtration system will give you the quality of water and the peace of mind you need.

Unless, of course, you enjoy all those pharmaceuticals in your water!

Perhaps we could just bottle it and sell it ourselves to those chronics residing in families that have purchased water filters.

Hmmm.

Just an evil, entrepreneurial thought.

These Greek men are actually all over 65 years old. Blue longevity zone living.

You believe me?!

What are you, a Cretan?

Tee hee.

There is a new product out on the market these days called Greek Island Lab’s Natural Joint. It is not a new kind of pot, like many of you might have hoped.

Okay, like I might have hoped.

It is not made out of the joint bones of Labrador Retrievers who met an untimely demise while vacationing with their owners in Crete. I know that this is what most of you were thinking, but you were wrong.

Greek Island Lab’s Natural Joint is a blend of 37 fruits and vegetables that have been keeping Greek men and women lithe and limber well into their nineties and beyond!
>

The good men and women of the islands of Crete and Ikaria have been enjoying better health and greater longevity than the rest of us for long enough. Apparently, their diet is the key to very few aches and pains, and amazing physical well-being. I think it is the red wine, myself, but I am willing to give this vegetable-fruit thing a try.

Google longevity medical or longevity reviews for more information on blue zones. Google blue zones too, of course, and watch Oprah on Youtube.

And if you like movies and lots of colourful pictures, then you will like the Natural Joint website. Dr. Mark Binette will give you a guided tour of the research and benefits of each of the ingredients found in this formula. Well, almost. He leaves out a few ingredients, possibly for proprietary reasons, or because he can’t count. You decide.

Of course, everything contained in the encapsulated form can be found in nature, and eaten in its natural state. Like the Greeks do.

So go ahead and eat these 37 items everyday, religiously.

Or agnostically.

Or simply drink a bottle of red wine, purely for the antioxidants, and gobble a Greek Island Lab’s Natural Joint capsule.

And a spanikopita. Spanikopitas are good.

And flaming cheese, as my once little son used to call Saganaki.

He was a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, cheese and Sambuca-loving 6 year old pyro.

Saganaki, alias, Flaming Cheese. Courtesy of lots of Sambuca. The Greek fried cheese dish that sounds Japanese and is made with Itlalian liqueur.

Since most of us cannot uproot and move to Crete anytime soon, Greek Island Lab has stuffed the entire Greek diet into capsules, sans meat, and shipped it off to you.

If glucosamine and chondroitin aren’t working for you, or if you are allergic to shellfish and sharks or don’t like killing crustaceans and cute little Great Whites, then this power-packed, vegan-friendly product could be your salvation. This product alleviates joint pain, strengthens joints and doesn’t spike your blood sugars like glucosamine.

So far, the reviews are great. Check them out for yourself at http://www.naturaljoint.com.

I’ll join you.

Opa!

And Oma.

Oh yes. Am I bad. That is Dutch – and German.

No wonder the Greeks smash their plates when they say it.

Get over the war, already, YaYa and Pappous!

Thanks to your healthy Cretan/Ikarian diet, you are probably the only ones still alive that fought in it.

Get in on the eternal youth and fitness action. Check out http://www.naturaljoint.com.

I don’t make a dime off this, so it had better be good.

Wait.

That didn’t come out right.

Pat.

Get the lead out, Moms and Dads!

And Grandpas and Grandmas.

                                                    Check paint, plastic, pottery, plasticine.

Children absorb 52 % more lead over the blood/brain barrier than do adults exposed to the same sources and levels of lead.

Lead poisoning happens to children in the home far more often than from any other source. You are their front line of defence, but since lead poisoning also happens to adults, perhaps the resulting brain damage is what is preventing you from acting on your children’s behalf.

Get a household lead test kit, and check your bathtub enamel, your silverware, your ceramics, and your plastic sippy cups and painted surfaces and kids’ paints for lead. There is absolutely no use in filtering lead out of your drinking water if you are putting it right back into your mouth by eating acidic foods and drinks off plates and and cutlery that are leaching lead. Some faucet plumbing is still legally being sold that is full of lead, despite EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) efforts to get it banned. Again; what is the point of putting in water filters at the point of entry to the home, if the lead is put back in at the faucet?

The best household and professional lead test kit on the market today is LeadCheck by Hybrivet. It is sold, in slightly different packaging, to parents and plumbers alike. Hybrivet has given Homax the distribution right to the consumer 2-stick pack in North America, retailing for U.S.$7.99. The packaging claims that the sticks will only do up to two positive tests each, but that has never been my experience.

The United States government has endorsed the LeadCheck lead test kit as the best kit on the market in North America for the past fifteen years. Canada uses the US. stats and endorsements for its own guidelines. Canada also relies on the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA for short, for its independent, publicly funded assessment of the safety of consumables in North America. The EPA also encourages you to be the lead police in your home.

I distribute the LeadCheck kit for Homax here in Canada, and the two-pack will do up to 14 tests per stick, as long as they are stored in a cool, dry place.

Come on people; that is around 50 cents a test. I am sure your family is worth it. Laboratory tests run around $35.00 per test. Who can afford to test all the kids’ toys, mini-blinds, knapsacks, paints and costume jewellery and candy at that price?

Call me, at National Lead Test. I’ll tell you how to get more than two tests per stick. It’s easy, and accurate.

And far less expensive that way.

My agenda is prevention first, profit second. There is no need to use one stick per test in many, if not most, instances.

Call me for the how-to.

Lead poisoning causes ADHD, anemia, rage, brain cancer, brain damage, damage to motor functions and cognition, and nephritis (kidney disease). I might write humorous blogs and dedicate humor-riddled pages to the topic of lead poisoning, but lead poisoning is no laughing matter.

Silica-based fluoridation has made the problem even worse. Not only does lead cross the blood/brain barrier, it now crosses the blood/gut barrier. Cases of ADHD and ADD have gone up 600% in townships and villages in New York State that changed over from sodium-based flouridation in the public water supply to silica-based flouridation. The American Dental Association announced, on its website in 2002, that they had made an error in endorsing flouridation and are promoting calcium-based treatments instead.

Cavistat is the name of the product they now endorse. The American Dental Association has not made a big fanfare out of the decision due to fear of class-action lawsuits.

Check it out for yourselves. Meanwhile, drop the flouride. It makes teeth brittle, causes bleeding gums if used excessively, and actually kills people if swallowed by the tube. People, of course, meaning children, as they are the only ones, other than starving or stoned adults, who would ingest it in the first place. Even small amounts of toothpaste eaten while brushing one’s teeth, can result in the proverbial night-time tummy pain that many children complain about.

Try Tom’s of Maine, non-flouride toothpaste, or any other flouride-free toothpaste on the market today. Well.ca, Herbal Remedies.com and Solay.com, all carry flouride-free toothpastes and powders that taste great and are effective.

Solay products are rated the safest products on the market by the Environmental Working Group (EWG). The EWG is another independent watchdog organization that tests and reports on the chemical constituents in thousands of consumables.

These oysters are shucked. But you’re not!

Ability Medical Supply is your internet hook-up for almost anything a budding invalid could ever want. Add an inexpensive, yet most excellent, personal sound amplifier from Bell & Howell, and the world is your oyster, once again.

Whatever that means.

Actually, the phrase “the world is your oyster” was first coined by William Shakespeare, as far as anyone can gather. In the Merry Wives of Windsor, the character Falstaff, speaking to the character Pistol, declares ”I will not lend thee a penny.” To which Pistol replies, “Why then, the world’s mine oyster, Which I will with sword open.” Act II, Scene II.

So you will note that the phrase, originally, did not simply mean that anything you desired in the world was available to you for the taking, but rather, that you would take by force that which was not offered freely to you. Knives shuck oysters, much as swords can actually open oysters, and split open the heads of those that that don’t cooperate with providing one’s desires.

Ability Medical Supply has very reasonable prices and quality merchandise. No need for any oyster shucking with swords here.

I recently injured myself at work and I am now in need of patella support and stabilization. There are two products carried by Ability Medical Supply that are also available from my physiotherapist’s office — at twice the price. I’m shopping here at Ability Medical Supply. I don’t enjoy being kicked when I am down, even if it is just in the pocketbook, not in the kneecap. You are already off work from an injury for Pete’s sake, so why on earth would someone gouge you for needed support?

Ability Medical Supply has my support. Check them out. It is unfortunate that their front index does not mention knee braces/stabilizers of any kind, yet they carry a healthy number of items. You might not be healthy, but the number of items… get it?

Tee hee.

Well get it. The price is right, and you are a cripple. Don’t cripple your finances as well by going to your local physio Shylock for items that you can get for half the price from Ability Medical Supply.

Punch in any knee phrase in the search box on their website, and voyla, knee braces galore. You can call it knee stabilizing, stabilizer knee brace, patellar stabilizer, patellar stabilizing brace, patellar brace, but ya doesn’t hafta call it Johnson.

Thank god.

If you have to look up Johnson on a medical website, you might be in for an eyefull. An eyefull tower, even.

Get it? Eiffel tower? Eyefull tower? Johnson?

No? Then you aren’t from North America, and you should sign up for my ESL survival video, where you learn to avoid the pitfalls of English As A Smutty Language. Stay safe. Be strong. Don’t mispronounce words and talk about dong. I will help you.

Check out my ESL blog post at this very website, Over The Hill Health Matters. Dot com.

Have a great day.

Hungry for fu…n. And lots of it!
Strength of character is a blessing, but it should not have to be gained as a result of physical pain and discomfort. Suffering in silence might help you keep your friends and family close around you, but it doesn’t help your physical quality of life in the least.

A strong back. Excellent posture. Good bone and muscle density. Strong, healthy joints. How to maintain this state of affairs as time and traumas march on. That is the key.

Exercise of a reasonable nature obviously factors into the equation. Reasonable, of course, depends upon what traumas you have indeed experienced to various parts of your anatomy. Diet, also, is an obvious consideration. Muscle building proteins and anti-oxidant rich, vitamin-packed foods and/or supplements, all can contribute to the maintenance and repair of the human body at any stage in the game. Adequate rest and stress management are also essential to good health, as we all know.

I cannot begin to tell you how much assistance my family, friends and I have personally experienced over the last twenty years, from magnetic insoles and magnetic mats. And that is no bull.
Magnetic fields can have anti-inflammatory properties. Asthma and muscle and joint pain all lessen in their severity with magnetic therapy. Colds heal faster. So do ‘flus. I am not going to try to convince you. Try magnetic insoles and a magnetic sleeping mat for yourself. You will be amazed at their effectiveness.

I personally do not sleep on a magnetic mat or wear magnetic insoles all of the time. Some people swear that magnetic insoles and mats can be utilized all of the time, and the body does not get “immune” to them, but I am not willing to find out if that is true or not, since they work so well when I need to use them sporadically when my immune system feels compromised, or when I need my joints and spinal muscles to be amazingly strong for periods of heavy lifting and carrying demanded by my workplace.

Magnetic fields can assist in detoxification, so if you are sleeping on a magnetic mat, it is wise to drink extra water, as magnetic fields may also have a dehydrating effect as they compell the body to get rid of any toxic build-up it may have. Many people find that they sleep like a baby on the magnetic mats. At other times, attempting to sleep on the mat is almost impossible, as one is charged with excess energy. That is when one no longer needs to sleep on the mat. Whatever was making you sluggish has been resolved, and you can put the mat away until you need it again.

Generalising from my personal experience and that of many people that I know, magnetic fields help sprains heal faster, and if applied prior to the stress, they can actually prevent sprains and strains from ocurring in the first place. Hence the usefulness of the magnetic insoles.

Magnetic insoles are like wearing an extra kidney belt or knee or wrist brace, in my extensive personal experience with these products. And you truly can jump higher and throw further with these inserts on than without them. When you go to lift up a heavy box, your back remains straight as a board, and your knees never waiver. The sensation in incredible. And a lifesaver. Try arm wrestling while wearing insoles, and then without. A huge difference.
Unless you have a pacemaker, I highly recommend that you give magnetic insoles a try. And the magnetic mat. Nikken makes both. Magnetico makes an amazing mat. Magnetico’s sleeping pad is designed to be safe to sleep on all of the time, whereas it is not recommended to use Nikken’s mats fulltime, as sleeping on them for more than two weeks can undo any of the good they have performed due to the nature of their design.

Check the literature out on both of these magnetic mats for yourself. Check with you alternative health practitioner and your doctor for their advice on the use of magnetic mats and insoles for your personal situation.

Magnetics have been a godsend for my family. They might prove to be just that for your’s also. Magnetico mats can be found at: http://www.magneticosleep.com.

Best wishes, Pat.
